Frequently Asked Questions

Beginner Triathlon Course

Tuesday 6am – Swimming at the Todd Energy Aquatic Centre
Thursday 5:30pm – Running at the Shoe Clinic
Saturday 7:30am – Cycling at the Taranaki Cycle Park

We recommend that you should be able to swim 50m without stopping to join the beginner course. It doesn’t matter how slow it is as you long as you can get to the end of the lap. If you’re not at this stage we recommend some one-on-one lessons which will get most swimmers up to this level fairly quickly.

Yes you will need a roadworthy bike for the course. However you don’t need a road bike to get started. You can learn to ride and complete your first triathlon on a mountain bike, hybrid, road, or triathlon bike. It only needs to be roadworthy so see if you can borrow one from a friend or try something second hand to get you started.
